F.A.Q.
- Do I need to be a member of the YMCA to be a member of TrYForce?
For indoor workouts, from October to April, you need to be a YMCA member as workouts are held at the Y however, you do not need to be a TrYForce member. From May to September, for outdoor workouts, you do not need to be a member of the YMCA however, you need to be a TrYForce member. It is recommended to be a member of both year round.
- How do I join the club?
To join the club, please see the Join Us section on our website or contact membership@tryforce.ca.
- What type of clothes/equipment do I wear?
Proper clothing and foot wear is required. Please note that first time participants do not need to worry about all the flashy triathlon gear. Running shoes, athletic clothing, bathing suit, goggles, bike in working order, and a helmet is all that is needed.
- Are there any fees associated with joining the club?
No fee is required to attend the October to April training however, you need to be a YMCA member. There is a $50.00 club membership fee to pay for the training from May through to September. The fee includes an OAT (Ontario Association of Triathletes) membership and access to various club activities.
- Who are the coaches?
The club coaches are NCCP Trained/Certified Triathlon Coaches. Each individual is certified in his or her area.
- Are there any age restrictions to joining the club?
Yes, to join our outdoor workouts, you need to be a minimum of 13 years of age and have written consent from a parent or legal guardian. To join our indoor workouts at the YMCA, you must also be a minimum of 13 years of age, a YMCA member and must take the youth fitness training and orientation from the YMCA. There is no maximum age limit.
- Is there TrYForce clothing?
TryForce technical clothing is available for sale. We usually make group orders once or twice a year.
- What makes the club unique?
The support from club members is what makes us stronger. Each individual is encouraged to support the club when needed. The relationships/freindships that are developed, and the core group of coaches, are what makes the club unique.
- Is the club a Scationed Triathlon Club in Ontario?
Yes, TrYForce is a fully sanctioned club under OAT (Ontario Association of Triathletes). We have a board of directors and all coaches are sanctioned under OAT.
